Petite Feet

I mentioned earlier that I was dying to check out this place, and I have actually been not once, but twice now!! They truly do have an AMAZING selection of children's shoes and accessories! Owners Michael and Sheryl Horwitz are so welcoming and charming. Michael always sweeps little Lawson off her feet - literally - and she has the best time trying on all of the adorable shoes from Pediped, Robeez and more.

Also, they have the BEST selection of hairbows I have ever seen!! I still can't get over them - Lawson is never caught without one!!

The Hardest Part...

Soooo... Clearly the most difficult part of my new year's resolution has been...

the blogging itself!!!

I am SO sorry that I have not been able to keep up with this little guy, but rest assured - I have not strayed from my commitment! In fact, it may sound silly, but I have been blogging in my head!! I have lots of delayed posts, so I think I'm just going to hammer out tons of posts in the next little bit.

I really do want to showcase some of my favorite local finds and experiences, so keep reading!

Junk 2 Funk Fashion Show

Ok, so this doesn't quite have as much to do with local shopping, but it has everything to do with the AMAZING design talent found here in our great city of Savannah. I had the pleasure of attending Savannah Arts Academy's Junk 2 Funk Fashion Show, and I have to say it was one of the coolest things I have done since opening BleuBelle!

The incredible Trellis Payne was responsible for putting on this second annual event, which featured fashion designs made from everything from Doritos bags to Duck Tape to McDonald's packaging in a FABULOUS runway show at the school's auditorium. The place was packed, and I have a feeling this is going to be a huge event in the years to come. Literally half of the designs would have not only won an episode of Project Runway, but they would be one of the most memorable designs in the history of the show. I could not believe that these designs came from high school art students (not even fashion students!) from here in little ol' Savannah!!

I truly can't tell you how incredibly talented these students are, and as part of the "Junk Jury", we had a hard time picking the winners of categories ranging from "Best Use of Materials" to "Best Styling." However, for me, the overall winner was clear, and "Paper. Peacock. Panache." took the top honors, winning "Best of Show." This incredible design was created entirely from paper, paint, and peacock feathers. The result was incredibly styled - down to the model's shoes. The dress was so gorgeous!!

Oh - and I was also blown away by the opening dance piece (choreographed by my wonderful friend Christina Powell)!! I felt like I was watching an episode of my favorite TV show - So You Think You Can Dance - live and in person!! I am already looking forward to next year's show - and my advice to you would be to buy your ticket EARLY, because it is sure to sell out super fast!!

Cute Black Clothes...

At BleuBelle Bridal, we wear all black, which I truly love! However, I am getting a little tired of my same old wardrobe... We are getting in tons of new spring stuff at the boutique, but not a ton of basic black pieces. Does anyone have any suggestions for great, easy, reasonable black options? I know I just need to go look around, but I would love any ideas you guys might have!

Speaking of boots...

How freaking cute are these boots for Lawson...

It is ALL I can do not to buy these from Zappos... Oh how I wish that someone carried these in Savannah...

I am absolutely itching to go shopping for little Lawson, and I think I might make a little shopping trip to Just for Baby and Robyn's Nest sometime very soon! Oh, and I really need to check out Petite Feet - right across the street from us. Haven't had the opportunity to check them out, but I have a feeling I might be in trouble...

Brithday present for Mother in Law

My sweet, sweet in-laws kept little Lawson while I was out of town, and in thanks to them, I completely FORGOT about my mother-in-laws birthday!! Awesome. Sometimes I really don't know where my head is...

Well, she has been talking about wanting a new pair of Ugg boots for a while, and I was tempted to stop at a mall on the way home from Atlanta to buy her a pair. BUT, I knew that my new fave, Globe Shoe Company, would have exactly what she needed. So, I waited until I got back, and I found the PERFECT pair of camel Ugg boots that I know she will love. Now I just need to mail them to her - four days late!! Oops!!

First Travel Trip!

Talk about temptation! I spent the weekend in Destin, Florida for a Bachelorette girls' weekend, and it was a blast! However, we chose to spend one day at one of the largest designer outlets in the country! I had to suffer through Saks Off Fifth, Banana Republic, Carter's, Baby Gap, and much, much more, and y'all would be so proud - I didn't spend a DIME! Boy did it take a lot of restraint...

Early temptations...

Roger, my sweet hubby, gave me an awesome Ipod touch for Christmas, and I am newly obsessed with all the fun apps that come along with it. However, did y'all know that now you can even shop from your ipod?? I keep getting little pop up ads during my obsessive Freecell playing prompting me to download Old Navy and Gap apps... Goodness, they really do know how to make it easy, huh?

Some favorite 2009 purchases...

I thought I would begin my new year by telling y'all about some of my favorite local purchases/shopping experiences from 2009. Last year (crazy to say that already!) was a BIG year for us, as we welcomed our little girl, Lawson, in May.

My earliest shopping dilemma was outgrowing my clothes from BleuBelle with my big preggers belly. This was an easy fix, as all I had to do was check out my friend Jennifer's store, Expectations. Expectations is actually the only locally owned maternity store in Savannah, and they certainly have a better selection than the other national options. Every time I would pop in, even if it was just to visit with Jenn, I would come out with TONS of great goodies. She has the BEST designer denim, and lots of comfy, easy dresses. She also has tons of great basics with her awesome selection of nursing gear and baby gifts. I even found Lawson's Christening gown at Expectations! Here's my sweet girl with her Grandma Burge in her beautiful gown.

A friend of mine (you know who you are Christine) warned me that my little white sports car would not suffice once I had a baby - and all of the stuff that comes with one. Well, she was definitely right!! I told my husband Roger that all I wanted for my birthday in November was a new, bigger car, and I knew exactly who to call. All I had to do was give Mickey and Ross from Southern Motors Acura (right on Broughton Street!!) a call, and within two weeks, I had my perfect car - a 2007 Acura MDX. This is my new baby, and it sure was nice to have during the holidays. I couldn't believe how unbelievably helpful Mickey and Ross were, and I can't imagine ever buying a car from someone else. Doug, the sales guy, even spent hours going over all the fun bells and whistles with me!
